Digital Photogrammetry is used to provide quick, accurate and comprehensive as-exists information
Whilst the availability of laser scanning technologies may have given the impression that digital photogrammetry services were obsolete, think again! Some digital photogrammetry systems can acheive sub millimeter accuracies (over small objects) and delivers high resolution photographs.
Data capture whilst moving has always been a survey problem. Digital photogrammtry is an excellent method to capture data from a plane, unmanned vehicle or boat. Coupled with a UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) digital imaging services are used in a multitude of industries today and is a quick, accurate and cost effective method.
Particular applications of digital photogrammery include:-
- Large route or topographic surveys
- Volume and cut and fill surveys for mining and construction sites
- Urban planning
- Flood modelling
- Geological studies
- 4K Video
- Thermal imaging
Some more unique areas where NB Group has applied digital photogrammery have been to capture the tragectory of moving objects in particular life boat launching and platform clearance.
Digital photogrammetry services are particularly suited to UAV applications to allow capture of data in inaccessable or high hazrd locations such as rooftops, spires, flare tips, telecommunication towers, electricity pylons, underdeck assets or topgraphic detail over large areas of land. The digital image photographs can be archived for future use and give a rich texture mapping of the objects photographed.
NB Group often combine digital image collection with laser scanning to provide image overlays in photrealistic 3D CAD models.
Orthophoto images can be prepared to avoid the need for CAD drawings for building elevations.
NB Group have a certified operational system in compliance with CAA for safe UAV flights. All NB Group UAV pilots are trained and hold appropriate certification.
